Hi, I’m Martha and if you put me on a desert island with nothing but the clothes on my back, I’d start making things.

At school I made things, I went to university to study textiles and make things, then I got a job sourcing footwear for the high street from far flung places to find out how other people made things.

I started a side hustle out of a fair trade women’s co-operative in India to make things (cute bags!) and around that time I met Mr. M and hung up my plane tickets and we made some little boys.

Before long, but this time armed with cardboard and tissue paper, me and those boys began, you’ve guessed it – making things, and through the joy, sorrow, chaos and bewilderment of having children I learnt that at heart, I will always be a maker – and that you can be too.

If you’d like to know how to sew and embroider the kind of treasures you will pull, well-loved, out of cupboards in many years to come, or spend quality time sewing with your kids, then you’re in the right place.

Home, making and play is what inspires me to design toys and sewing kits, so that your home and your family time can be spent making together and making memories.

Giving you good things.

I know that being a mum and needing to exercise a little creativity can, but don’t always, go hand in hand. That’s why I write every Sunday to the Gidsy and Jo mailing list to share the triumphs and failures of being a creative mama, as well as sneak peeks into our latest projects. Sometimes I later publish these posts here on the blog – and sometimes not. If you’d like to sign up, just add your email here.

Giving back good things.

I believe we’re made creative for the good of the world so for every doll or kit sold I’m giving 10% of the profits here.
